The initial appointment will take place with only the parent/ caregiver. It will be a 90 minute appointment that can be completed online or face to face to allow for detailed history gathering and discussion about your child; their strengths and areas for development and goal identification. Therapist administration time will follow to allow for care planning and session scheduling.
This session will take place face to face and will start the building of a therapeutic relationship between therapist and child. Further assessment will take place to inform your child's needs and therapy planning.
We will then develop a therapy support plan detailing identified goals and how we will work together to meet these goals. We will discuss and agree a therapy continuity plan in case of COVID or other illnesses or situations getting in the way which may impact regular appointments. A new service agreement will be completed and signed detailing the therapy plan and cost.
Therapy appointments will take place in the setting most appropriate to the goals, this may be in the clinic, home or educational setting.
Each session will be 60 minutes, with 45 minutes of face to face and the remaining time used for note completion and COVID safe cleaning. Session notes are sent to caregivers following each appointment.
PROM Occupational Therapy provides mainly clinic based services. Home and school observations and consults will be discussed and arranged where beneficial to therapy goals. A home visit for each child is recommended to inform their typical environment and have a realistic view of home life, supporting optimum client goals.
Effective communication and multi-disciplinary team working between all professionals involved allows for optimum child outcomes. Other professionals involved in your child's care will be contacted at the start of therapy, with consent. Regular communication is encouraged to best meet the needs of your child.
